Criteria for Evaluating Budget Plans
On Wednesday I visited the University of Chicago, where I made a presentation on “The Challenge of Stabilizing Federal Debt” and spoke with a number of professors. My hosts included several members of CBO‘s Panel of Economic Advisers, and I was pleased to be able to spend time with them and with other members of the Chicago faculty.

Assessing Progress in Haiti Act
As ordered reported by the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations on April 26, 2012
H.R. 1016 would require the President to use existing appropriations to prepare a report to the Congress on the status of reconstruction and development efforts in Haiti following the earthquake there in 2010. CBO estimates that the cost of such a report, which would be direct spending, would be less than $500,000 in 2013. Pay-as-you-go procedures apply because enacting the legislation would affect direct spending. Enacting H.R. 1016 would not affect revenues.
