PFAW – Nat’l call-in day (toll-free)Trump’s conflicts

We’re joining with partners today for a NATIONAL CALL-IN DAY, to make sure members of Congress are hearing from their constituents about the need to address the danger of Trump’s financial conflicts.Congress is in session and it’s time for members of both the Senate and the House to demand safeguards against corruption and protect American democracy from Donald Trump’s unprecedented, unconstitutional conflicts of interest.

Please add your voice. Use these toll-free numbers to reach your senators and representative now:

Senate: 1-866-985-2543

Tell your senators to support a review of Trump’s financial arrangements AND support Sen. Warren’s new bill requiring the president to divest and disclose all business affairs in order to avoid serious and unconstitutional conflicts of interest.

House: 1-866-948-8977

Urge your representative to support — and call for — a congressional investigation to review Trump’s financial arrangements in order to identify and protect against conflicts of interest.

Here’s some additional information that might be helpful for your calls:

  • President-elect Donald Trump’s has conflicts of interest that are dangerous and unprecedented for an American president. If nothing changes, we could have a sitting president receiving payments from business interests and foreign entities as of the very first day of Trump’s presidency. The latter would be a direct violation of the Constitution’s Emoluments Clause.
  • Trump hasn’t come clean on how he will resolve these dangerous conflicts like every other President and cabinet official before him. Americans have been given little more than vague pledges about transferring operations and nothing about transferring ownership. Ethics officials from Republican and Democratic administrations agree that this is completely inadequate and does not resolve Trump’s dangerous conflicts.
  • Trump’s business interests are already affecting foreign policy — he has used official conversations with foreign leaders to promote his business interests, and even has put those interests ahead of American values by cozying up with the likes of the Philippines’ brutal President Duterte, who is responsible for massacring thousands of civilians but is a potential ally of Trump’s businesses in the Philippines.
  • Congress must act to protect the interests of the American people and the integrity of our government. Trump must resolve his conflicts of interest and Congress has the power require that Trump discloses his finances, and divests from his business conflicts.

Once again, the toll-free call-in day info is as follows:
