LAPD’s New Homeless Policy: Compassion
The LAPD has long struggled with how to interact with homeless people while enforcing the laws. Last year, two of its most prominent use-of-force cases involved homeless men who were fatally shot by officers. Now, the department is telling officers to practice “compassion and empathy” when dealing with the homeless.
